Family Participation
Every month, we encourage our families to participate in a monthly family involvement project! Projects correlate with the curriculum for every month.
Outdoor Play
Every day, weather permitting, the children will have outdoor play time. We encourage our staff to take the children outside and enjoy the fresh air in the mornings and afternoons!
Creative Arts
At ELA, we do daily creative art projects that correspond to the weekly curriculums in our classrooms. We believe in letting children express themselves through art and allowing them to explore their creativity.
Early Learners
Grandparent's Tea
To celebrate and appreciate our grandparents, ELA hosts an annual Grandparent's Tea Party complete with snacks, refreshments and activities!
Fire Department Visit
Every fall, ELA welcomes the Seekonk Fire Department for a visit! Not only do they let our children explore the fire truck, but they present fire safety information as well.
Halloween Event &
Spooky Trail
Every October, ELA puts together a Halloween event! We have a trail in the back of our school that we utilize to create a "spooky trail". In addition, we have a wagon ride, pumpkin decorating contests, snacks and more!
Thanksgiving Feast
To celebrate Thanksgiving, we do a "Thanksgiving Feast" for our children where they gather with friends from different classrooms and eat together. Our students create their own placements and attire.
Celebrating the Holiday Season
We strive to make the holiday season as special as possible every year! We encourage staff and children to participate in the 12 Days of Christmas Outfits, gingerbread house making and Santa visit. Inclusivity is a top priority at ELA, so we be sure to celebrate all holidays such as Christmas, Hannukah and Kwanzaa.
Spirit Weeks
Throughout the year, ELA encourages our students and staff members to participate in various themed spirit weeks!
Petting Zoo
Who doesn't love a good petting zoo? ELA is filled with animal lovers! We've done petting zoos in both indoor and outdoor settings, and love being able to watch the children spend time feeling and observing the animals.
Owl Presentation
The Audubon Society gave us a demonstration where the children were read an Owl story, and then got to see an owl in real life. The children were amazed with the owl and loved being able to touch a real owl feather! All age groups were given the opportunity to view the presentation.
50's Valentine's Dance
In February of 2023, we had our 50's themed Valentine's Day Dance for our families and staff! Everyone came dressed in their best 50's attire, and we danced the night away to music from the decade! We provided pizza, snacks and refreshments for all!
80's Valentine's Dance
In February of 2024, we had our 80's themed Valentine's Day Dance for our families and staff! It was a great time had by all! We danced the night away to 80’s music (as well as some popular kids tunes), snacked on some delicious treats and, of course, had a blast with our bubble machine!
100th Day of School
The 100th day of school is a fun accomplishment for the children to celebrate! We encourage our children to participate in the celebrations by decorating a "100 Days" themed shirt, typically with 100 embellishments attached.
Dr. Seuss
We love to celebrate Dr. Seuss at ELA! During the time of his birthday, we dedicate a whole week to the books of one of America's most beloved authors.
Project Chick
Every spring, ELA participates in "Project Chick" brought to us from Casey Farm in Rhode Island. We look forward to this every year as the children love waiting for the eggs to hatch, and then caring for the chicks after hatching. For more information, visit Project CHICK: Chickens Hatching in Classrooms | Historic New England
Planting & Gardening
One of our favorite activities to do when the weather is nice is going outside to garden our plants! Every year we grow various fruits, vegetables and plants. The children love to help out!
Rock Garden
Every year, our children and families participate in setting up a rock garden at the front of our school! We see so many nicely painted rocks and creativity during this time.
Water Play
In the summer, we offer outdoor water play weekly to our students. We have various sprinklers, water tables and water toys to beat the summer heat!
Summer Foam Party
One of our favorite summer events is our foam party! The children love getting to play in the foam as a fun sensory activity!
OSA Aquarium Presentation
We've been lucky enough to have OSA Aquarium Superstore and Services with us for their aquarium presentation. The children are able to view and touch some of the animals, while learning about the creatures of the ocean!
Early Learners Graduation
At the end of every school year, ELA holds a graduation for our students moving on to kindergarten in the fall! This celebration means so much to not only our families, but our staff as well as we get to recognize the accomplishments of our students - some of which have been with us since they were babies!
